July 29: Celebrating 200 Years of MacKinnon's Brook

2pm @ MacKinnon’s Brook Trail, Cape Mabou Highlands Hiking Trails

In 1817, Hugh and Mary MacKinnon arrived from Scotland and settled in what is now known as MacKinnon’s Brook. On July 29, 2017, celebrate 200 years of history with music, stories and a walkabout of the area.

We will gather at 2:00pm on the site of one of the MacKinnon homesteads. We strongly encourage people to hike in from the Mabou Mines trailhead (approx. 5km). Please allow at least 1.5 hours to reach the site from the Mabou Mines trailhead.

Transportation will be provided for those who need it. Those requiring a drive should be at the Mabou Mines Trailhead between 12:30 and 1:00pm. Please note there is still a 15 minute walk required to reach the site.
