The Trans Canada Trail will be the world’s longest and grandest recreational trail.  When complete it will extend 21,500 kilometres and will connect close to 1000 communities and over 33 million Canadians.  Currently 15,525 kilometres of trail are operational in Canada.  That’s 70.5% of the 22,000 kilometre proposed route! 

Nova Scotia Trails is proud to be the Nova Scotia partner for the Trans Canada Trail.  We are more than half-way to our goal to connect the Trans Canada Trail in Nova Scotia by 2017.  400 kilometres of the 700 kilometre proposed route is currently operational.  The Nova Scotia portion of the trail spans 700 km from North Sydney to Amherst with a link to the provincial capital, Halifax Regional Municipality. Future phases which are already under development will allow trail users to circumnavigate Nova Scotia.
